LEWISTON – Charles H. Earle, 81, of 200 Stetson Rd., died at Central Maine Medical Center Tuesday, Oct. 5.
He was born in Lisbon Falls on May 3, 1923, the son of Carleton and Lucy Greeley Earle.
He was educated locally and graduated from Lisbon Falls High School. Soon after, he entered into the United States Army, where he served his country during World War II.
On June 24, 1956, he married the former Martina Ashton, and settled in Auburn. Together they were members of High Street Congregational Church.
He was employed as a finisher for 27 years at Deering-Milliken Mill in Lisbon Center, and later worked for Kora Temple for many years as custodian, until his retirement in 1987.
He was raised in Ancient York Lodge #155 on Sept. 30, 1957, was a member of Auburn Scottish Rights Bodies, and a member of Kora Temple Shrine. He was a past patron of Mount Order of Eastern Star-White Shrine of Jerusalem, and Saint Andrew Society, and was also a proud member of American Legion Post 158.
He enjoyed being in the outdoors where he could take in the sights and sounds of nature around him.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Martina Earle; and a brother, Robert H. Earle and his wife, Lyndell, of Litchfield.
He was predeceased by four brothers, George W., Frank E., Carleton G., and Millard G.; a sister, Esther Irene; and several nieces and nephews.
