SOUTH PARIS – Beulah Marian Staples, 92, of South Paris died Tuesday, July 13, at the Maine Veterans Home.

She was born in Grafton on Jan. 22, 1912, the daughter of George Lincoln and Florence Nightingale Robinson Wilder. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1930, attended prep school at Fryeburg Academy.

She received a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from Bates College in 1935, and a Master’s degree in Library Science from Simmons College in 1937. She was employed at the Library of Congress, the Library for the State of Maine and was Town Manager for the Town of Oxford in the 1950’s.

She was a wonderful homemaker and mother, raising her three children. She was involved with the Penny Player’s in the 1950’s and the Girl Scouts in her younger years. She was a member and very active at Second Congregational Church in Norway, especially the craft fairs, in which she worked all year preparing for. She married Roscoe E. Staples II. He died in August of 1943, in World War II.

She is survived by two sons, Roscoe Everett Staples and his wife, June, of Raleigh, N.C., and Everett C. Staples, of Gulfport, Fla.; a daughter, Mary A. Gatchell and her husband, Bernard, of Bryant Pond; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
