1915 – 2004

PORTLAND – Eleanor Moody Molbeck, 89, of Portland died Thursday, April 1, at Maine Medical Center. She was born Feb. 16, 1915, in Farmington, the daughter of Orrison T. and Lillian (Oakes) Moody.

She told stories of the fun she had being raised on Porter Hill.

She was educated in the schools of Farmington and a graduate of The Maine Eye and Ear Infirmary General Hospital in Portland in 1938. She married Albert Molbeck Oct. 15, 1940, in Portland, he died in 1971.

She ran the Molbeck Nursing Home on Orchard Street in Farmington until 1953, when she moved to South Portland where she owned and operated the Birches Nursing Home until 1969. In 1971, she worked as a nurse at AMHI in Augusta until her retirement in 1980.

She was a member of the Maine State Nursing Association and enjoyed walking, reading, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include a daughter, Christine Kimball and her husband Larry of Westbrook; a son, Eric Molbeck and his wife Donna of Portland; three grandchildren, Christopher and Matthew Molbeck of Portland, and Jason Kimball and his wife Sharon of Hampstead, N.H.; three great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Meghan, and Justin Kimball; two brothers, Hubert E. Moody and wife Sue of Naples Fla., and Orrison T. Moody Jr. and his wife Gloria of Corinna; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Albert; and three sisters, Olive McBride, Doris Brown, and Madeline Hiscock; and a brother, Delbert Moody.
