PARIS — A Mexico man pleaded guilty Tuesday morning at Oxford County Superior Court to a felony charge of unlawful possession of heroin.
Glen Lane, 32, was one of six people arrested in Rumford on April 28 and charged with aggravated trafficking.
The state agreed to drop the single count of aggravated trafficking that Lane was facing and replace it with a charge of unlawful possession of a scheduled drug in return for a guilty plea.
Greg Braun, Lane’s attorney, asked Active-Retired Justice Robert Clifford to postpone sentencing for 60 days so Lane could begin an intensive outpatient program.
“Mr. Lane has tested positive for a banned substance, so rather than sentencing today, we’re asking to continue it for 60 days so he can begin an IOP within the next 30 days,” Braun said.
Clifford agreed to continue sentencing to the end of November.
Assistant Attorney General David Fisher said that if the case had gone to trial, officers with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency would have testified that they arrested six people on April 28 at a trailer on 93 Chase Ave. in Mexico, with one of them being Lane.
Upon searching the trailer, the MDEA found a bag with “approximately 11 grams” of heroin inside, and an undetermined amount of heroin floating inside the trailer’s toilet.
