1928 – 2004
LEWISTON – Milton G. Farris Sr., 76, of 1101 Garfield Rd., Auburn, died at Central Maine Medical Center Saturday, Jan. 31.
He was born in Auburn, Jan. 7, 1928, the son of Guy and Eva Abbott Farris. He was educated in the Leeds school system.
Mr. Farris proudly served his country by joining the United States Army.
On June 26, 1948, he married the former Lydia Collings and together they settled down to raise their family. He worked as a crane operator for H.E. Hackett Company, and in 1958 he opened Farris Used Cars which he operated to the present. He was a member of the Maine Automobile Dealer Association.
He enjoyed working his grove of fruit trees that he nurtured and harvested through the years. He loved spending time with his family and devoted his life to caring for his beloved wife.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years; two daughters, Susan Remillard and her husband Normand of Leeds, and Kathleen Nysven and her fiance Douglas Gerritts of Strum, Wis.; two sons, Milton G. Farris Jr. and his wife Luidmila of Rochester, N.H., and Patrick A. Farris and his wife Julianna of Poland; eight grandchildren, Jennalynn, Jessica, Bethany, and Benjamin Farris, Amy and Alison Remillard, and Anna and Lara Nysven; two great-grandchildren, Joshua Farris and Roland Whittier; a sister, Brenda Mackisses; and two brothers, George Farris and his wife Del of Greene, and Sherwood Farris and his wife Treva of Georgia.
He was predeceased by a sister, Corinne; and three brothers, Phillip, Hollis, and Harland.
