1925 – 2004
PALMETTO, Fla. – Laurence M. Flagg, 78, a resident of Venice, Fla., and Jay, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the Martins Health and Rehab Center.
He was born on March 15, 1925, in Fayette, the son of Forrest and Louise Crane Flagg and attended Livermore Falls High School. On Oct. 21, 1946, he married Pauline Doiron at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II in the South Pacific.
He owned and operated Flagg’s Barber Shop on Main Street in Livermore Falls, retiring in 1974. He and his wife have wintered in Florida, since 1987. He was a devoted husband and father and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
He was a life member of the VFW, Frank L. Mitchell Post 3335 of Jay, the D.A.V. of Augusta., a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 320 of Jay, the Maine State Barber Association and the 4th Marine Division Association. He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay and Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Venice, Fla.
He is survived by his wife of Venice, Fla., and Jay; a daughter and her husband, Patricia and James Yahn of Phillips; two grandchildren, Rachel Nichols and her husband Nick, and Travis Wells and his wife Jen; four great-grandchildren, Brooke and Tye Nichols and Cameron and Connor Wells; a brother, Lyle Flagg of Brandon, Fla.; three sisters-in-law, Claire Flagg of Fayette, Doris Flagg of California, and Tanya Flagg also of California; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers, Norman, Earle and Harold Flagg.
