1944 – 2003
OTISFIELD – Bonnie Kay White, 59, of Otisfield, left this world to join her Lord in heaven Friday, Nov. 8, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in East Stonham on Oct. 17, 1944, she was the daughter of Walter Lee and Chrisle Fay Lord of North Waterford. She attended Waterford, South Paris and Norway schools.
She began working for her auntie Kay O’Leary at the age of 16 at her boarding home in Waterford.
During her long working career, she held jobs as a waitress at Barjo’s Restuarant in Norway, the Tea Room in Stoneham, shoe shops in and around the Claremont, N.H., area, Sylvania in Hillsboro, N.H., Tambrands in Claremont, N.H., cleaned countless homes, was an outreach worker for West Central Services in New Hampshire, and before retiring in 2002, worked for Summercrest in Newport, N.H.
She married Lawrence A. Farris of Norway on Sept. 9, 1961. They raised four daughters. She was a loving and devoted mother, a 4-H leader, Brownie leader, president of the North Charlestown Mother’s Club, a Charlestown, N.H., recreation board member and recreation director for a summer. She recently was inducted as a member of the Red Hat Society.
While serving as recreation director, she met the man she spent the rest of her life with, Michael W. White of Charlestown. They were wed April 27, 1991, and started their own “Brady Bunch,” expanding the family to three sons and four daughters.
She loved to travel, dine out at fine restaurants, visit friends, spend time with grandchildren, being at the lake, and the Christmas holiday season. One of her greatest passions was shopping, which she kept up with catalogs even as she was bed-ridden.
She spent her last 14 months residing with her husband, daughter, son-in-law, and two grandchildren in Otisfield.
She is survived by her husband, Michael, of Otisfield; her mother, Christle Lord of South Paris; a sister, Mary Rust of South Paris; a brother, Gordon and his wife Ramona of Oxford; four daughters, Laurie J. Farris and her partner Aaron Swan of Woonsocket, R.I., Katherine M. and her husband Michael Abbott of Phillips, Stacy L. and her husband Louis Martin of Otisfield, Heidi A. Farris and her partner Thomas Sewall of Claremont, N.H.; three step sons, Jason White, Shilo and his wife Loretta, and Travis White, all of Newport, N.H.; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her father, Walter Lee Lord.
