1905 – 2003

LEWISTON – Edgar H. “Bert” Lambourne, 98, of Schooner Estates, Auburn and Redington Shores, Fla., died Saturday, Nov. 22, at Central Maine Medical Center after a brief stay.

He was born in Reigher, England, March 27, 1905, the son of Ernest H. and Sarah Armstrong Lambourne. His family migrated to Quebec, Can. in 1910. He was a graduate of Stanstead College in Stanstead, Quebec and came to the United States in 1927.

He was the owner and operator of the Chapel Street Parking Lot in Lewiston for many years, retiring in 1970. He was active in the harness racing business, owning a number of horses.

He was president and treasurer of Lewiston Raceway. He was active in the Kora Shrine and served as past president of the Kora Patrol. He served on the vestry of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church.

He is survived by a grandson, Michael Lambourne, and great-grandchildren, Cameron and Kristi Lynn Lambourne, all of Lexington, North Carolina.

He was loved and will be missed by many friends, including Simone Caron of Auburn, his friend and companion for the past years.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Ruby Barker Lambourne, in 1976; his second wife, Emily Gardiner Lambourne, in 1999; and his son, Russell B. Lambourne, in 2003.
