PORTLAND — Linda Faye (Smith) Patrick, 73, of Lisbon Falls, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 30, at Maine Medical Center in Portland with her family by her side. She was born in Abilene, Texas, on Aug. 21, 1944, a daughter of the late Leonard and Georgia Leona (Worthington) Smith. She attended school in Abilene, Texas, graduating from Abilene High School in 1962. On Dec. 21, 1964, she married Kenroy Patrick in Abilene. In 1965, they moved to Maine where they decided to raise their family in Lisbon Falls.
Linda was first and foremost a beloved mother and grandmother and lived her life showing her love and support for them daily. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed traveling, dancing, singing and listening to old-time country music. She was part of the “Ladies’ Retirement Luncheons” that she enjoyed with her L.L. Bean friends; she loved following the Red Sox, gardening and maintaining her connections with her relatives in Texas. As busy as she was, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events were always a top priority to her. Linda was often referred to as “freakishly coordinated,” as she could scare anyone away from facing her in a backyard game. She is best known for humbly sinking every bean bag in cornhole, spiking birdies in people’s faces and intercepting footballs out of nowhere. No one stood a chance. Her grandchildren particularly enjoyed listening to her order food with her half-Maine, half-Texas accent; a large Sprite always got her an order of fries.
Linda is survived by her children, Tracy Grogan of Abilene, Texas, Kelley Patrick and companion, Frank Clark of Lisbon Falls, Kenroy Patrick II and companion, Lisa Goudreau of Boynton Beach, Fla., five grandchildren, Kerstin Linda Kenney (and great-grandkitties), Ryan and Mallory Fairbanks and Ashley and Austin Grogan (and great-granddog, Bella); sisters and brothers, Peggy Ann and husband Doc Phariss, Ronnie Leonard and wife Janette Smith, Carolyn Sue and husband Dwain Lovell, Idi Mae Arey (Sis); and the entire Texas family. Also, several brothers- and sisters-in-law, whom she considered as immediate family; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Kenroy Patrick; her son-in-law, Travis Grogan; and her mother-in-law, Doris Williams Patrick.
