1927 – 2003

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – George F. Bernier, 76, of Atlantic Beach, Fla., and formerly of Lewiston, passed away on Aug. 25, at Flagler Hospital where he had been a patient for a few days.

Born on March 29, 1927, in Chisholm, to Raoul Sr. and Beatrice Bernier. He was the last of 10 children.

He served in the Merchant Marines and the United States Navy. On June 3, 1950 he married his one and only true love, Sylvia St. Pierre of Lewiston. They raised one daughter and one son together and lived in Lewiston until they retired and moved to Florida.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and he touched many lives with his jovial personality. He will be sadly missed by his family and by those whom he left an impression with. Survivors include his wife of 53 years; a daughter, Patricia Luna and her husband Robert of Atlantic Beach, Fla.; a son, David Bernier and his wife Anne of Auburn; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
