1921 – 2003
AUGUSTA – Hazel C. Bancroft, 82, formerly of Chateau Cushnoc, died Sept. 8, at the home of her niece, Hilda Bridgham, on the Leighton Road, after a long illness.
Born in Grand Manan, New Brunswick, Canada on Nov. 29, 1921, the daughter of Vandon E. Bancroft and Caroline (Bayers) Bancroft, she was a graduate of Edward Little High School of Auburn and Auburn School of Commerce.
She will be remembered for her loving and giving ways, especially to children.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Nutter, McClennan and Fish in Boston, Mass. for 15 years. She was previously employed by Bates College in Lewiston for 14 years.
Survivors include two sisters, Clara Bancroft of Portland and Shirley Goydos of Long Beach, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three brothers; and four sisters.
