1953 – 2003
YORK – Maurice J. Pelletier, 50, of Lemont Lane in Kittery, died Sunday, Sept. 7, at York Hospital, following a long illness.
Born in Lewiston, April 13, 1953, the youngest son of Leo J. and the late Evelene A. (Samson) Pelletier, he was raised in Mechanic Falls.
Mr. Pelletier attended Edward Little High School, leaving before graduation to join the U.S. Coast Guard in 1970. He continued his education while in the Coast Guard, taking courses with the University of Maine, Metropolitan University, St. Paul, Minn., USAFI courses and others. During his career he was also a member of the Chief Petty Officers’ Association and the International Law Enforcement Officers’ Association.
He married in 1972 and following his retirement with the Coast Guard as a chief petty officer, he finally settled in the seacoast area.
Survivors include his father, Leo and stepmother, Toni; two half-brothers, Jim and Jay and his brother, Gerard; his devoted wife of 30 years, Judy (Wierzchowicz) Pelletier; his beloved daughters, Michelle (Pelletier) Hood and Denise Pelletier; and his equally beloved grandchildren, Taylor, Tristan, Olivia and Austin; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
