I am a proud Auburn Democrat, particularly so in this era of the divider-in-chief. Recently, I had an opportunity to listen to both of Auburn’s candidates for mayor as they expressed their visions as to what they hope to accomplish as mayor.
Auburn voters should look past the familiarity of the names of the candidates and closely examine the candidates’ goals and backgrounds.
Jason Levesque has a proven track record as a job creator and he has a strong vision for more economic development in Auburn, so I will vote for Levesque, even if he is a Republican.
I will also vote “no” on the merger, as Auburn does not need a rain tax.
Robert Mennealy, Auburn

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
