1939 – 2003

DIXFIELD – Bernard F. “Frank”, “Bernnie” Beggs, 64, of the Common Road, Dixfield, died late Friday afternoon, July 18, at his home following a long illness.

He was born Jan. 6, 1939, in Bangor, the son of Joseph and Jemimah (White) Beggs. He received his education in Freeport schools and entered the U.S. Marine Corps, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. He earned the distinguished marksmanship award and retired as a highly decorated Marine Corps Captain afer serving his country for 22 years. He moved to Dixfield in 1979 where he owned and operated Beggs Logging Co. and upon his retirement, he operated the family farm.

On June 23, 1989, in Dixfield, he married Mary Dodds. He was a Winston Cup fan and when he wasn’t working he enjoyed watching FOX News and the television show Law and Order.

He is survived by his wife, Mary of Dixfield; two sons, Dean Alan Beggs and his wife, Nicole and their three children Crista, Amanda and Skylar, all of Lewiston, and Joseph Beggs of Dixfield; one daughter, Abby Beggs of Dixfield and nieces. He was predeceased by his first wife, Winni Beggs; a son Timothy James Beggs; a daughter Bethany Lynn Beggs who died July 28, 1996, and his parents.
