1911 – 2003
LEWISTON – Beatrice Helen Mitchell, 91, a resident of Oak Park Apartments at 10 Oak Street one of the first tenants to move into the new complex died unexpectedly Thursday morning at Central Maine Medical Center.
She was born in Verona, Aug. 19, 1911, the daughter of Alvin and Catherine O’Brien Mitchell. She was educated in Verona schools. She had lived her whole life in Lewiston.
She was employed for many years at Federal Shoe, and later at the former Knapp Shoe Co. in Lewiston from which she retired in 1978.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Lewiston and a member of the Lewiston Senior Citizens. She had been a member of the Acorn Band at Oak Park for many years. She loved to travel, play cards and beano.
She is survived by a sister, Marion Rideout of Peabody, Mass.; a nephew, Richard O’Brien and his wife Beverly of Sabattus; a nephew, Earl Rideout of Mass.; a niece, Beverly Nelson of Auburn; plus several great-nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Gertrude O’Brien of Lewiston; two brothers, Harold and Everett Mitchell both of Mass.; and a niece, Dorothy Christensen of Mass.
