LEWISTON – Arthur W. Dodge Jr. died Thursday, July 10, at Central Maine Medical Center. He was 74 years old.
Known as “Red” by friends and family, he was a devoted and loving husband to his wife Cecile of 55 years. He was born in Lewiston on Nov. 10, 1928, the son of Arthur W. Dodge Sr. and Elizabeth Bigelow Dodge. He served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. During his service, he was an aircraft mechanic. He returned to Auburn where he worked for many years at the Auburn Water District and was later a driver for the Sun Journal until his retirement in 1994.
Red was an avid NASCAR racing fan and sports enthusiast. Some of his favorite adventures included sharing sports events with his son Rick and his grandchildren, Matthew and Emily. Family was everything to Red. He patiently cared for his dog, Sandy after adopting her. He especially enjoyed taking rides with his wife Cecile or playing checkers and cards with his grandchildren. He dearly loved to share his pride in the accomplishments of his son and his grandchildren with friends and family members.
He is survived by his wife, Cecile, his son Rick and wife Wendy, his grandchildren Matthew and Emily and his special daughter in law, Cathy Dodge.
