1913 – 2003

LEWISTON – Alfred J. Beaudry, 89, of Chelmsford, Mass., died Thursday, July 10, 2003, at Central Maine Medical Center. Born in South Boston on Sept. 26, 1913, he was the son of Nelson and Albertine Turgeon Beaudry.

A graduate of South Boston High School, he was married to the former Carmen Cloutier on April 11, 1942, in Ss. Peter & Paul Church. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army, and was a veteran of the Normandy invasion. Following his honorable discharge, he was employed for more than 30 years as a civilian driver at the Hanscom Field Air Force Base in Bedford, Mass. A parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Chelmsford, he also belonged to the Hanscom Federal Credit Union, the AARP, and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.

He wintered at his home in Winter Haven, Fla., and spent his summers in Poland. He was a manager and coach of youth baseball leagues in Chelmsford, and enjoyed hunting and boating. He had a warm, outgoing personality, and will be greatly missed by his many friends.

Besides his loving wife of 61 years, he is survived by a son, Peter G. Beaudry of Poland; two sisters, Grace Lesslie of Townsend, Mass., and Pauline Palesse of Plymouth, Mass.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Claire Mullin, and four brothers, Anthony, Ralph, George, and Jeffrey Beaudry.
