1919 – 2003

MADISON – Harold N. Cole Sr., 83, of Strong, died Tuesday, May 20, at Maplecrest Rehabilitation & Living Center.

He was born Oct. 13, 1919, in Charleston, S.C., the son of Harold S. and Nellie (Norman) Cole. He served with the 3rd Infantry of the U.S. Army in the European African Middle Eastern Theater during World War II.

He was a resident of Strong for more than 50 years, lived with his son, Jerome in Anson for a year an a half, and has been a resident of Madison for the past two and a half years. He was employed at Brackleys Saw Mill in Strong for more than 20 years and also for 20 years at Maine Wood Turning of Farmington.

He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Farmington. He enjoyed time spent with family and friends at his camp in Weld. He was an avid sports fan especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.

He is survived by his children, Lloyd Cole and his wife Jean of Anson, John Cole and his wife Janice of Mt. Pleasant, Mich., Mary Orcutt and her husband Francis of Temple, Norman Cole and his wife Cathy of Starks, Cindy Brown and her husband Alton of Fayette, Jerome R. Cole Sr. and his wife Betty of Anson, David Cole and his wife Clair of Strong and Harold N. Cole Jr. and his wife Karen of North Carolina; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Lillian (Tibbetts) Cole.
