SABATTUS – Therese Irene Charest (St. Pierre) of 64 Begin Terrace, Sabattus and formerly of Lewiston and Salem, Mass., passed away Monday, Aug. 9, at her residence surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Lewiston on June 22, 1926, the first of eight children born to Armand and Marie Louise (Goulet) St. Pierre. She was educated at St. Peter’s School in Lewiston.
She married Roger A. Charest on Sept. 25, 1948, in Lewiston. Together they raised four children.
Before her retirement, she worked in the local shoe and textile industries. She was employed at the Bates Mill the longest. During her residence in Salem, Mass., she worked at Almy’s Department Store.
She was a member of Holy Cross Parish. On Thursday’s she enjoyed getting together with “the girls” of St. Peter’s Class of 1943. Together they socialized, played cards and created crafts for the Dominican Sisters craft fairs.
Mrs. Charest enjoyed camping and knitting. The thing that brought the most joy to her heart were the special gatherings with her family. She will be sadly missed by everyone whose lives she touched throughout her life. The family of Therese Charest would like to thank all the caregivers, especially the staff at Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice for making her final journey a dignified and peaceful experience.
She is survived by her husband, Roger A. Charest, of Sabattus; two sons, Paul R. Charest and his wife, Raylene and Ronald R. Charest and his wife, Anna, both of Salem, Mass.; two daughters, Jacqueline Charest and her partner, Carole Plummer, of Clinton, and Joline Pelletier and her husband, John, of Lewiston; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Pellegrino and her husband, Bill, Debra Binette and her husband, Carroll “C.B.”, Karen McCadden and her husband, Joe, Keith and Tina Charest all of Massachusetts, Courtney Temm and her husband, Stephen, of Auburn, Chad Lapierre and Jacie Pelletier, both of Lewiston; three great-grandchildren, Vincent Pellegrino and Olivia and Gloria Binette all of Massachusetts; one brother, Norman St. Pierre and his wife, Patricia, of Old Orchard Beach; three sisters, Anita Michaud and her husband, Ronald, of Lewiston, Jeanine Binder and her husband, John, of Indiana, Annette Soucier and her husband, Richard, of Greene; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and special friends.
She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Carmen St. Pierre; and two brothers, Armand Jr. and Raymond St. Pierre.
