SOUTH PARIS – Colista C. Morgan, 96, of South Paris died Monday, Aug. 9, at Market Square Health Care Center with her sister by her side.
She was born in Greenwood on Aug. 4, 1908, the daughter of Ernest and Lucy Swan Curtis.
She graduated from Gould Academy in 1926 and took course work at Gorham Normal School. In 1970 she received an honorary degree from Farmington Teachers College. For 44 years she taught school at Greenwood City School.
She was a member of the Maine Teachers Association, the Oxford County Retired Teachers Association, Mission Congregational Church in West Paris and a former member of Delta Kappa Gamma.
She married Clyde Morgan. He passed away in August of 1986.
She loved hiking, nature and corresponding with her many friends and family members. She truly cared about people. She wrote a column for the Bethel Citizen and published a book about nature and her travels.
She is survived by a sister, Lucy Ridley, of Waterford; a sister-in-law, Rena Curtis, of Greenwood; in-laws, Leonis and Faye Holt, of Greenwood; and many nieces and nephews.
