FARMINGTON — A Farmington man was charged with domestic violence and endangering the welfare of a child, after police responded to a 911 hangup call late Saturday on Dutch Drive, according to police reports.

There was a child in the residence, police secretary Bonnie Pomeroy said Monday reading from officers’ reports.

When police arrived they heard an argument between a boyfriend and a girlfriend in an on-and-off relationship, she said.

The man, Brian Mackin, 26, had fled on foot.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Sgt. Nate Bean and his police dog, Bain, tracked him into the woods, Pomeroy said.

The woman went to a Farmington hospital where officer Michael Lyman interviewed her. She had facial injuries and blood on her nose, Pomeroy said. During the altercation a knee struck her in the face, she said.

Mackin was arrested on misdemeanor charges of domestic violence assault, domestic violence terrorizing, obstructing report of a crime and endangering the welfare of the child.

Makin had taken the woman’s phone away when she tried to call 911, she said.

Lyman and officers Brandon Sholan and Sgt. Michael Adcock responded to the 11:02 p.m. complaint.
