RUMFORD – Florence M. Gallant, 92, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, at her residence. She resided on Hancock Street in Rumford.

Born in Mexico, on June 18, 1912, she was a daughter of Fred and Lillian (Murdock) Ahearn. She attended Stephens High School in Rumford and was employed as a cook for 12 years at the Rumford Middle School.

She was a communicant of St. Athanasius – St. John Church; member of St. Timothy Circle 204 Daughters of Isabella for over 50 years and was also a member of the Senior Citizens Club. She enjoyed playing Bingo, the Red Sox and basketball games, knitting, cooking and traveling.

She was married in Rumford, on Sept. 16, 1933, to the late Edwin C. Gallant, who died in Rumford on Feb 23, 1993.

Survivors include a daughter, Jane Glaser and her husband, Wayne, of Trinity Fla.; sons, Edwin M. Gallant and his wife, Janice, of Portland, and Robert E. Gallant and his wife, Karen, of Rumford; six grandchildren, Brian Gallant and his wife, Lisa, of Bath, Gayle Gallant McPherson, of Rumford Point, Susan Coulombe and her husband, Donald, of South Rumford, Craig Glaser and his wife, Lisa, of Gulfport, Fla., Kurt Glaser, of Trinity, Fla., Amy Sue Hamilton and her husband, Matt, of South Portland; four great-grandchildren, Mariya Coulombe, of South Rumford, Bryanna Gallant and Carissa Gallant, of Bath, and Jason McPherson, of Rumford Point.

She was predeceased by an infant son, Timothy, two sisters, Marjorie Robichaud and Marion Bilodeau, and three brothers, Fredrick, Sherman and Roland Ahearn.
