AUBURN — The Auburn Fire Department will welcome local families to an open house from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, to teach fire safety and prevention practices. It will be held at Central Station, 550 Minot Ave.
The event commemorates National Fire Safety Month. Participants will learn how to use a fire hose; have the opportunity to try on firefighter gear; and receive safety tips on “stop, drop and roll.”
Pizza and children’s activities will be provided. There will also be fire safety information and goodies available for children, along with a bounce house and a free raffle for door prizes.
Lewiston/Auburn 911 and the local chapter of the American Red Cross will be guests for the day.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
