HARPSWELL – Lillian Meroff, 89, a long time resident of Main Street, Lisbon Falls and wife of William Meroff, died early Friday, May 7, at Vicorage by The Sea in Harpswell following a long illness.

She was born in Bath, Dec. 26, 1914, the daughter of Smith and Marie (Harriman) Freeman and attended Bath schools. On Jan. 24, 1944, she married William Meroff in Brooklyn, N.Y. Mrs. Meroff was a homemaker for most of her life and and made her home along with her husband in several places including Wiscasset, Buffalo, N.Y., Revere, Mass., Sharon, Mass., Derry, N.H., Guam, Mich., Mere Point, and Lisbon Falls.

Mrs. Meroff was a beloved member of The Lisbon Falls Baptist Church and was always very strong in her Christian Faith. She enjoyed the interest of traveling, ocean fishing, gardening, table games, especially Scrabble and was an avid reader.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years of Lisbon Falls; two daughters, Mrs. Norman (Doreeta F.) McCauley of Lisbon Falls, and Miss Deborah R. Meroff of London, England; one son, William H. Meroff and his wife Mary of Rollinsford, N.H.; four grandsons; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Donna Lee Meroff in 1949; one brother; and four sisters.
