PORTLAND – Jean Davis Butler of New Gloucester, passed away Saturday, Sept. 25, at Maine Medical Center, with her family by her side, after a long illness.

Born in Danville, Oct. 16, 1933, the daughter of Clyde Almon and Selena Rose Chippendale Davis, she graduated from Edward Little High School in 1952.

She worked as a librarian in New Gloucester and as a nurse and a real estate broker. She enjoyed horses, writing, traveling, Bible study and spending time with her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward, in 1975 and her two brothers, Clyde and Robert.

She is survived by her children, Michael and wife, Betty, Mark and wife, Jeannie, Gloria Theriault and husband, Alan, David and wife, Donna and Shawn and wife, LeeAnn; grandchildren, Eric, Adam, Nathan, Baba, Brittany, Brooke, Brielle and Jacob; great-grandchildren, Kristie and Kaine; her sisters, Ruth Bickford, Mary Tyler and Janice Conant; brother-in-law, Gary Conant; sister-in-law, Isabelle Temm, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
