TOGUS – George “Bob” R. Rowe, 84, of Oxford, died Friday, Aug. 18, at Togus VA Medical Center.

He was born in Burlington, Vt., on March 9, 1922, to Walter and Sadie (Lowe) Rowe.

He worked for many years in the logging business and also operated a junkyard. Bob served his country in the U.S. Army during World War ll serving with General Patton on the invasion of Baton with the 712th tank battalion.

He was a member of American Legion Post 112 of Oxford. He liked country and western music.

He will be still loved and sadly missed by his close family.

He is survived by three sons, Richard Rowe and his wife, Rose, and William Rowe and his wife, Faith, all of Oxford, and Dale Verrill and his wife, Barbara, of South Paris; one daughter, Lena Rowe of Oxford; one brother, Everett Chamberlain of Barnet, Vt.; 11 grandchildren, Peter, Glenn, Michael, Steven, Tina, a special granddaughter, Tanya, William, Travis, Sheila, Angela and Theresa; and nine great-grandchildren.
