My 12-year-old daughter had her adult trike stolen from our backyard recently. She suffers from rheumatoid arthritis and cannot ride a conventional two-wheeler like most children her age. I contacted the Sun Journal because I was hoping it could help us find Danyell’s trike – I remembered the quick return of Ruth Slovenski’s bike after her story was reported.

Although my daughter’s trike has not been found as yet, I want to say that reporter Mark LaFlamme’s efforts went way above just getting the story out in the newspaper.

So I send my thanks to him, as well as all the wonderful people who offered to buy a new trike for my daughter. I was overwhelmed by all the kind gestures and phone calls. If I didn’t return all calls, I apologize, but know that I am grateful beyond words.

My daughter will need certain accommodations in the future to help her live with the arthritis, and I feel blessed to live in a community that is so willing to help her.

Again, thank you all, from the bottom of my heart.
