I read in the Nov. 15 issue of the Sun Journal about a store in Maine that has a betting pool to guess when President-elect Barack Obama will be assassinated. There is a $1 fee to play the pool. The Associated Press writer failed to mention where the store is located.

I would not condone such ignorance by shopping at that establishment. I also strongly recommend that someone in that town who still has a conscience notify the state police of the name and address of that store. What they are doing is not only ignorant and promotes hatred, it is illegal gambling, and the state could levy quite a hefty fine for conducting the game.

Editor’s Note: A subsequent story identified the store as the Oak Hill General Store in Standish.
