This is in response to the letter from Elizabeth Cooke, printed Nov. 6.

Yes, I was at the Farmington Post Office the weekend before election – and therefore the person she mentioned in her letter. I had serious doubts about President-elect Barack Obama’s ideology. I still have them. Therefore, the sign I had read, “Barack Obama, socialist/marxist?????” Even some of the pundits say that his programs are socialist.

Additionally, the other sign I had was “Barack Obama won’t protect traditional marriage.”

I believe this. According to an August article in the Christian Science Monitor, “McCain’s Edge on Gay Marriage,” and I quote, “Mr. Obama opposes a ban on same sex unions.”

Obama would repeal the Defense of Marriage Act, which bars, by federal law, same-sex marriages and, finally, he would not support the initiative by the people of California to overturn a court judgment that permitted same-sex marriage.

Obama should heed the voice of the people, and outrageous intimidation tactics by militant gays all over our country should be stopped. There is only one true marriage and that is of a man and a woman. No militant gay group has the right to toy with the institution of marriage. And militant gays must respect the voice of the people.
