I am by no means a politician. That is important to say, because it is difficult to trust politicians at election time, when their motives can be rightfully questioned by the public.

I met Penthea Burns 11 years ago when I was a 15-year-old foster child needing support. I found the support I needed in the Youth Leadership Advisory Team, which Burns had created to empower youth so they could better the child welfare system together.

YLAT is just one of the many things Burns has done to help Maine’s children.

In the time I have known her, I have found that she cares immensely for people who need an advocate, and takes her work very seriously. She listens to what people have to say, and finds creative and innovative ways to make positive changes.

Penthea Burns has earned my trust and is worthy to represent District 70.
