I thank Rex Rhoades for his column Sept. 21 about vehicles and bicycles on the roads. Hopefully, a lot of auto drivers and bike riders will read and observe the rules.

I drive and also ride a bike on pretty long and fast trips.

Courtesy goes both ways. I have a red flashing light in the back of my bike. I also have a strobe light that flashes on and off, to attract attention of passing vehicles. I wear a bright yellow or orange tee shirt, and it it’s cold I wear a lime green/yellow jacket. I wear those colors to be more visible to drivers.

I also have name tags pinned to my clothing with my name, address, phone numbers, (cell-regular) and where to take me if not conscious.

I have noticed and would like bike riders to give way on curves and small hills. A vehicle passing on a curve or small hill has to go around a biker and may not see a vehicle coming the other way. And on narrow roads, if there is a vehicle going to pass a biker and that vehicle sees another car or truck coming the other way, the vehicle’s driver should slow down until it is clear to drive around the bike. Otherwise, the bike rider might be forced off the edge of the road.
