I’ll cast my vote with Rand Stowell (letter, Feb. 15) on the subject of wind towers. If this fad is allowed to progress, Maine will end up with the ugly towers and prostituted mountains while the profits, in most cases, will find their way to other states and Canada.
Switzerland, a country far more advanced than this one, does not build that sort of thing in its beloved Alps. Much of that country (including the trains) is run on electricity generated mainly with nuclear reactors. The new generating plants are safe, efficient and non-polluting. Our country could do similar.
Those who would build wind towers frequently target small towns and convince residents of the great tax benefits.
Alas, those residents will join a long list of those who ruined their heritage for a pittance.
