This is in reference to Scott Poirier’s recent trial in the death of his father.
An era of abuse has ended and the silence of that era is now loud. Would this tragedy have happened if any of the abused had broken the silence?
The recent events should become a national symbol of rebuttal against sexual abuse, domestic violence and substance abuse, all which eventually destroy relationships and families. By remaining silent in any of these circumstances, the damage continues to mount. No one should endure a life of hurt and shame. Break the silence and seek help!
While the funeral procession of Roland Poirier headed up Main Street, the trucks and equipment being operated by employees and friends blasted their air horns, unlike most processions that are quiet and somber. Was that an ironic celebration, by breaking the silence of many years of abuse and hurt and mistrust?
