This is in response to Mary Jane Newell’s letter of Jan. 17.
Sen. Hillary Clinton’s comment about President Lyndon Johnson takes nothing away from Martin Luther King’s accomplishments. It’s only fair to give Johnson credit where credit is due.
Among his accomplishments was signing civil rights legislation, which in turn caused a mass exodus of Democratic party members to the GOP.
The deeds of anyone who can engender that degree of contempt in the racist, misogynist and bigoted conservatives that formed the basis of today’s GOP should burn in the memory of every loyal conservative.
