I am shocked. I thought Lewiston was reasonably safe, but I learned today that I couldn’t walk down the street in broad daylight without being hassled and have things thrown at me by a group of teenagers. Three boys thought it would be fun to throw crab apples at me, but when I asked them about it, they turned verbally abusive, screaming obscenities. They then turned on each other, saying that they each hadn’t done it.

I know who did it, as I turned to see him about to throw again. He quickly dropped the apple and tried to act innocent. None of them would tell me their names or where to find their parents. When I threatened to call the police they ran.

Are the kids in this area really being brought up to attack women walking alone?

Do their parents not teach them to treat people with respect? Where are their parents?

I’m a woman in my mid-30s, and simply walked out of my house and was attacked. I never thought I’d be scared to walk out my own front door by myself.
