Underage drinking is still a problem in Maine. Young children are going to parties and drinking. Some teens drink their parents’ alcohol when they’re gone. A possible good way to help prevent this is parents putting their alcohol in a locked case.
According to http://libraries.maine.edu/mainedatabases, the main area that kids get alcohol is at parties.
Another way children get alcohol is when their parents are gone, but the reason the parents don’t suspect any thing is cause they think their children are perfect and that they would never do something like that. Or the parents just don’t think of it and the kid does.
A very good way to help prevent this is with a lock. That way they can’t get to the alcohol, and if they were desperate enough to try to bust the lock open then the parents would know it was busted. Another good way is to count how many bottles or cans that contain alcohol. When the parent returns home, they can count them again to see it is the same. If it is different, then obviously some was taken.
Please help to make our community aware of just how dangerous underage drinking is for teens.
