In regards to Elaine Graham’s letter (March 3), it’s not only illegal for anyone to deprive citizens of civil rights guaranteed to them by their federal or state governments, but also an attempt to deprive people of their civil rights.

After the Northern Ireland Police Ombudsman’s disclosure of police complicity in the murder of Irish Catholics, (collusion with loyalists was British security policy, Irish News, Jan. 23), despite pledges to grant Catholics equal protection under the law, it’s understatement to say humanity has made great strides regarding human rights.

Can we stop publishing attacks against people who are gay, lesbian, or anything else?
