Recently, while I was shopping, I was very concerned about the ice on the walkways and entrances of stores. I was concerned not only for myself, but also for the people being forced to walk on it. Nothing could be worse for some than the fear of slipping on ice.
I realize customers need to be very careful while on the ice. This is a major safety hazard. Has anyone forgotten that many elderly residents still need to go out and move around? How about the children not understanding the danger? At that age, they believe they are immortal.
It is also difficult for someone grocery shopping – who is thinking of many things – to notice each ice patch.
I understand that many store owners are busy, but this is an ongoing problem this cold and snowy winter. I was disappointed to see so many stores neglecting to take care of this issue. The ice problem needs to be fixed, not only because of injuries that could take place, but also for possible lawsuits being brought against the store owners. Which is worse, taking a few hours to clear away the ice, or spending months on a preventable lawsuit?
I would rather ensure the issue is resolved, than feel guilty about injuries that could have been prevented.
