In response to “Pro pot forces on move in towns” (Nov. 30), I totally agree with the fact that the state ought not to block what is a potentially bustling piece of the economy. We are fighting a war against terrorism that is costing many billions of dollars each month. Focusing on crimes related to terrorism is a priority, not adults growing or using marijuana. That money would be better spent on Maine’s port security to deter a nuclear bomb from coming into the country.

The politicians and law enforcement officials who do not support this are ignorant of the fact that we are at war. Our resources need to be focused on the real enemies of the state, and not creating enemies out of marijuana users.

As Sun Tzu states in his book, “The Art of War,” “You make your alliances where you can find them.” The concept of legally taxing marijuana use, cultivation and distribution to pay for the fight against terrorism is intelligent. That’s an economic alliance to generate money and save multiple millions of dollars each year and funnel it into the war effort.

In conclusion, the people of the state of Maine need to take charge against those supporting fascist-like laws against marijuana users to help the war on terrorism.

It takes money to provide a strong defense, and this social change will do just that.
