Well, the time is upon us once again to decide the future of our state. Our governor and legislators asked us last election to give them a chance to fix our out of control and broken tax system. They have failed.

Democrats have been in charge of our state government for 34 years now, and have dug us into a terrible financial hole. People are sick and tired of lame promises and fed up with high taxes. Democrats think we should levy more taxes on businesses in order to increase state revenues. Bonds we vote down are funded through back-door politics that take money from other programs.

Just look at the condition of our roads. The Maine Department of Health and Human Services has wasted over $80 million of our money. Our governor hires outside agencies to audit DHHS at an additional cost to taxpayers, then does little to follow the recommendations given by the auditors. Twice.

Some programs have become just a hole for taxpayers to pour money into and get nothing in return. We must have our programs audited and evaluated. We must make our state government accountable for the money we have to give them by voting for the Taxpayer Bill of Rights. I believe the Republicans have a common sense approach and the resolve to solve our out of control tax system.

The Democrats have had their chance. Get out and vote.
