I don’t know if the Taxpayer Bill of Rights is the right way to go, but I think it’s the right direction. I’m voting for Guy Carrier for my district because he’s going in that direction.
I’m all for helping the poor and desperate. I know that there are people out there who can’t help where they are. I do think there are a lot who have not been brought up to be responsible, and they need to become accountable. Get people the treatment they need. Require them to show up for their appointments. Add a residency requirement so that people who move here can’t get MaineCare their first week here, except for special circumstances. How about a no-show fee system so that a $25 fee must be paid before getting any further MaineCare services?
Enough is enough.
