We need representatives in Augusta who are going to hold the line on state spending, and work to provide state and local tax relief. That’s why I support the re-election of Sen. Lois Snowe-Mello for House District 15 (Auburn, Poland, Durham, and New Gloucester).

She has called for reprioritizing our tax dollars – local school funding should come first and new government programs last, with reasonable and responsible revaluations – property taxes should incorporate what you actually paid for your home, not just current market value.

In the 2006 Business Tax Climate Index, Maine ranks 45th out of 50 states. Maine citizens also have the heaviest tax burden in the nation, in terms of local and state taxes.

We need to elect and re-elect those who are going to improve our state’s economy. We joke about Taxachussetts. Maine is worse.
