In light of the Sun Journal fishbowl project drawing attention to water quality in the Androscoggin, I’d like to point out that several Lewiston legislators have shown leadership on this issue from the beginning.
State Sen. Peggy Rotundo and state Reps. Margaret Craven, Elaine Makas and William Walcott have pointed out that a clean river is key to the future of the Twin Cities, and have insisted that the Androscoggin Valley is entitled to the same protections that other Maine communities enjoy.
These four legislators have demonstrated, through their work and their voting records, a commitment to good health, a high quality of life and a strong economic future for residents of Lewiston.
For this reason, the Maine League of Conservation Voters has enthusiastically endorsed their candidacies.
We are hopeful voters will return them to Augusta to continue their excellent service.
