I would like to make a few comments about the recent Kennedy Park rally in support and solidarity with our Somali fellow citizens after the despicable religious desecration of their place of worship.

It was not by accident that Rabbi Hillel Katzir of Temple Shalom has been playing a leading and prominent role in organizing and conducting this rally.

The Jewish people know first-hand how things are getting started historically – from acts of discrimination, “racial” and religious slurs, desecration and burning-down of synagogues and places of worship, government mandated acts of dehumanizing oppression, leading finally to the greatest crime in the history of mankind – the Holocaust.

So now that the world has experienced the unimaginable we are saying together with the Jewish people, “Never again!”

Now that their American fellow citizens have declared again their compassion and solidarity with the Somali people in Lewiston and Auburn, it would be a morally altogether fitting and proper signal for our Somali community to hold a great rally of their own in solidarity with their Lewiston compatriots in demonstrating and declaring their passionate outrage about the acts of unspeakable barbarism committed against our people and Western civilization by Islamist terrorists in the name of Allah.

The American people have demonstrated their goodness and compassion by giving refuge as well as moral and economic support to our Somali refugees.

A great Somali rally of gratitude and solidarity with their American fellow citizens would be very beneficial indeed and greatly appreciated.
