The African Immigrants Association is a nonprofit organization made up of volunteers from various African and American cultures. Our main goal is to gain a greater understanding and cultural awareness among members of our community. We have learned that when diverse cultures meet and learn more about one another, better relations are made and stereotypes are broken.

To help achieving that goal, African Immigrants Association invited people from all cultures to participate in the Africana Festival.

Every year, on July first, we organize diverse events of free food, dance and music. The goal of the festival is to celebrate the Somali and American Independence days, to strengthen the diversity, encourage enrichment of multi-cultural relationships, and the building of a diverse bridge in the Lewiston and Auburn community.

We are aware and thankful that officials of the Twin Cities are doing their best within their limited resources to offer diverse services to create a greater cultural understanding within our community.

The African Immigrants Association is thankful for the efforts of many individuals, businesses and organizations whose continuous assistance and fundraising sponsorship made possible this multi-cultural event. And thanks to the people of Lewiston and Auburn for the support and encouragement for getting together more than 2,000 people from the immigrant and larger community.
