I was very disappointed with the recent article in the sports section of the Sun Journal about the Legion Baseball game between New Auburn Legion and Andy Valley. Usually we have about a four-line article. But, this one had a large article and continued on another page.

Your article was so wrapped up in how many games NAL has played, or not, games completed, etc., due to rain and darkness for NAL. Your other big concern was how many runs NAL had and, especially, the stats for the NAL players.

The two players from Andy Valley were seriously injured. Both left the field to go directly to the hospital before the game was officially over.

Have we lost sight of the purpose of sports? I feel the health of our athletes is much more important then the score or the stats.

No, my son was not one of the injured players.

Ironically, my son’s name was in this article for Andy Valley for a good hit and he scored a run.

I am sorry, but I just could not let this go!
