This is in response to Jim Carignan’s May 28 column “Let’s tone down the anti-tax mania.” He seems to be saying that we may be overreacting. Trust me, I am not.

I’m really not interested in buying acres of land so that black flies can roam freely in the pristine forest of Maine. I’d rather pay off my mortgage instead.

I really do not want to subsidize dairy farmers, or anyone else for that matter. I want to choose what charitable causes to support.

I really do not need the government to regulate every aspect of my life. I know I am capable of being a responsible person.

To put it as simply as possible, I want to keep what I earn and spend it in a matter I see fit.

I enjoyed the story “Meet the levelheads.” Placing that article next to Carignan’s column gave me a chuckle.

Power to the Levelheads. The world would truly be a better place.
