Recently, at the University of Maine at Farmington, a group of anti-war protesters – including faculty and administration – read aloud the names of U.S. soldiers who have given the last full measure of devotion for their nation. This was not done at a peace rally or a support our troops memorial or to an audience who came to them to hear their anti-war sentiments. It was done in the hallway of the Olsen Student Center next to the mail room.

Students lowered their heads and hurried by the protesters dressed in black as the names were shoved in their faces. This is not a war these students asked for, this is not a venue where students expect political propaganda thrown at them. This is where they eat lunch, where they walk to get to class.

These professors were not in their offices to help students or teaching class where they are paid to go. They were taking their day to utilize their position of power over the students to create anger in our government and our president.

Remember, some students support freedom in Iraq. Some support the president and some support America!

Keep the protests where they belong and out of our university buildings.
