I am a handicapped person. I live in Lewiston, and the downtown post office on Ash Street has handicapped access on Park Street, but has no handicapped access with automatic doors for a handicapped person to access their services unless someone comes along to open the door.

I have written to Sen. Olympia Snowe about this matter last fall, and just recently wrote a letter to Vice President Cheny in regard to this matter. Still, to date, nothing has been done in regard to this matter.

Olympia Snowe’s office said to hand-write the complaint, which I did, and still nothing has been done in regard to this matter. That was over six months ago.

What makes the federal government exempt from the Americans with Disabilities Act anyway?

Do they feel because they are the federal government they are above the law?
