Editor’s note: Every day there are rays of light that shine into the lives of people through their neighbors, their co-workers, their families and even through complete strangers. This column is devoted to exposing these sunbeams to the light and offering readers an opportunity to share good news. We plan to occasionally offer up our own sunbeams, too.
Auction success

West Paris Old Home Days and Tri-Town Rescue and Ambulance wish to thank all the companies and small businesses that contributed to the success of our auction, held at the Agnes Gray School Nov. 6.

Without the cooperation of all our local clubs and organizations, the event would not have been possible, and we sincerely thank each and every one for their support and or labor.

Turkey dinner

Again, the Thanksgiving Day dinner at Mt. Blue High School cafeteria in Farmington, sponsored by the Augusta Valley Scottish Rite Masons, was a huge success.

I offer my grateful thanks to the people and businesses in the area for their donations of turkeys, pies and gift certificates, which were used to buy paper goods.

I also thank the many volunteers from throughout Franklin County and beyond for all their help. Students from Mt. Blue High School, Mt. Abram High School and Hinckley Goodwill School were very helpful in the kitchen and delivering meals to shut-ins. We delivered more than 180 meals to shut-ins and served many more at the cafeteria.

I apologize to those who called in on Thanksgiving morning and reached only our answering machine and were not served. I also apologize to any people who did not receive a meal because of weather-related problems or when the driver could not find the residence.

To everyone who had a hand in that day, I wish to say the dinner could not have happened without you.

Veterans ceremony

As chairman of the Lewiston-Auburn Veterans Council, I wish to thank all citizens who attended the Veterans Day musical program at the armory in Lewiston, as well as the changing of the flags and the unveiling of the fourth bench at the Veterans Memorial Park. So many people do not bother to attend and thank veterans for everything they did to keep America free.

I also wish to thank all those who participated in or helped out in any way at the events. It was a pleasure to work with all those people.
